Would you like to join a healthcare student organization?

We understand that due to our worldwide health crisis, it’s more complicated to be involved in organizations on campus. But don’t worry about it, Binghamton University has made it possible for student organizations to switch to a virtual world and be able to offer these amazing opportunities to students. In order to ensure public safety and students’ best interests, clubs and organizations are having virtual meetings and events where students get to interact with other people with the same interests and learn from each other and their career field.

MEDICAL ROOTS PROJECT
Now more than ever, taking good care of your health has become crucial. If you’re someone who’s interested in learning how to advocate for community health education and awareness, you should consider becoming a member of the Medical Roots Project. This organization is committed to encouraging students to take charge of their personal well-being and stand for public safety by educating themselves and others around them about essential health knowledge. Their goal is to introduce non-profit organizations to our campus and engage Binghamton University students in making a remarkable difference in the overall health of their local community.

PRE-MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
If you’re a student on the pre-medical track, you may want to take a look at this organization. This club is run by upperclassmen students who, just like you, decided in their earlier years of college to attend medical school in the future. They hold weekly meetings in which they offer help and answer questions students may have in regard to their career. Based on their experiences, they offer advice to new students, and help them thrive as pre-medical students. If you don’t know where to start and have a wide variety of questions when it comes to medical education, these students will offer you advice from where and how to start studying for you MCAT to how to study abroad as a student interested in the medical field. They possess connections with professionals in the field who would come and talk to you, so it’s the perfect opportunity to start networking! Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the bright future that awaits you after you graduate from Binghamton University!

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL HEALTH

In our current society, it’s extremely relevant to acknowledge the importance and advocate for mental health. Our daily routines can bring a lot of stress and become overwhelming in the long run. This is why Binghamton University started the initiative to educate students on mental health, as well as support them, in order to discontinue the negative stigma mental illness has. In addition to this, this organization encourages students to promote public policies relating to mental health. If you are a passionate advocate for mental health, join the student alliance, and become an active member committed to see tangible changes and improvements in our mental health policies.

DiRT

Most of the programs in the Science and Healthcare field require you to possess research skills. Some students have early exposure to research in high school, but some others don’t. This is why the Dickinson Community, a living community on campus, has developed a research program that allows students to gain research skills from the first stages of research. No previous experience is needed, and by the end of the program, students present a research project they have worked throughout the semester. This project is based on research that has already been done but allows students with no research experience to understand the logistics and foundations of a successful research project. If you are a student who possesses little or none research skills, DiRT should definitely be one of the programs you would want to add to your list to check out in the future.
