Networking Opportunities On Campus

The Binghamton University campus is like a small city, and there are over 1,000 campus employees who perform the necessary functions to keep it operational–including a series of offices with Government, Policy, and Law-related focuses! The professionals in these offices have careers in the Government, Policy, and Law industry, and as such they make great on-campus connections. Reach out and ask to set up an informational interview! Here are a few offices to check out:

  1. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)

ISSS is an office dedicated to helping international students be successful both academically and in the process of adjusting to life in a new country. One of the biggest ways they help our international student population is through assistance with the legal elements involved with studying in a foreign country. The staff at ISSS is knowledgeable about securing and renewing visas, the immigration process, employment under different visas, international laws, and a variety of other legal matters, and they create resources and provide individual guidance for students with questions on these topics. Students interested in immigration or international law will want to connect with the ISSS staff since they have a lot of industry knowledge and experience providing legal advice. Working with international students has also given the staff at ISSS knowledge about international policy. The staff are experienced in this area and can provide wisdom and guidance to students looking to break into this field.

These duties require the staff to understand, implement, and create environmental policy, and any student interested in environmental policy could learn a lot from observing how this office operates!
