Our team is looking for individuals interested in learning about all aspects of the publishing industry. As literary agents, we work as liaisons between authors and publishers and have a comprehensive vantage on the industry. Our interns receive the mentorship and experience necessary to progress in the publishing industry, as we provide a strong understanding of the literary agency business and the publishing process–from query to submission to publication and beyond.
Responsibilities include reading, providing editorial feedback in the form of reader’s reports and editorial full-notes, helping manage agents’ query accounts, putting together spreadsheets with editor information for book submissions, and gathering data from BookScan. Through these tasks and weekly mentorship meetings with our assistants and agents, our interns will feel comfortable evaluating manuscripts and have the knowledge necessary to step into an assistant role in an agency or publishing house.
Candidates should be motivated, well-organized, responsible, and have excellent communication skills. Some experience analyzing and assessing written materials is preferred. Having a broad appreciation of literary works in both fiction and nonfiction and a desire to work in the publishing industry is a must. Interns should be willing to commit 15-20 hours per week for a minimum of three months.
To apply for an internship with us, please email with a resume and cover letter to email@example.com at Jacey Mitziga’s attention. Please be sure to include ‘resume’ in the subject line.
