FAA Tree Growth National Database Internship.We have a unique opportunity for a Graduate or Undergraduate student to participate in a paid internship for Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 gaining experience in research and development as well as environmental planning/consulting. The selected student(s), will gain valuable consulting and research experience. Additionally, if interested, the internship could result in the opportunity for full-time employment as an Environmental Scientist, Analyst, or Planner.Spring 2020:• paid hourly ($17-$21 per hour depending upon qualifications)• about 4-6 hours per week • Flexible work location with the potential for working out of the downtown Binghamton area or from home/school.Summer 2020:• paid hourly ($17-$21 per hour)• about 40 hours per week (can be flexible to accommodate a summer course schedule or other commitments)• Flexible work accommodations but at least part of the time, the student would be required to be at the office in the-downtown Binghamton area Job Description:This internship will be for a student with some knowledge of environmental science, and ideally with some knowledge offorestry/tree growth/vegetation but this is not a requirement. The purpose of the internship will be to research and assist a team of researchers, planners and programmers in the development an automated analysis tool that identifies tree types and rates of growth within specified geographic regions of the US. The project has been funded through a Federal Research and Development Grant. The internship is in Binghamton, NY so please keep that in mind regarding the summer commitment.
