Eat Well. Play Hard. Binghamton! (EWPHB), the pilot program of the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition (HLC), focuses on the neighborhood served by the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School on the North and East Sides of Binghamton. From our headquarters at the Lee Barta Community Center, we set out to not only improve access to healthy food, physical activity, education, engagement and to help our community members take their health into their own hands.
The Healthy Lifestyles Coalition is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our team. In this position, the intern will complete a week of standard orientation that includes learning about the United Way both nationally and locally.
The intern will report to the Health Initiatives Manager, and work closely with other HLC staff and the Senior Director of Community Initiatives. Through research of best practices in online engagement, the intern will improve the virtual presence and reach of HLC and Lee Barta Community Center by designing and implementing a mission-driven online engagement strategy to reach youth and families. Additionally, the intern will work to expand the reach of HLC to adults, seniors, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. The intern will assist in designing marketing materials and advertising our existing programs. Intern duties include but are not limited to:
- Gaining a working knowledge of United Way’s Healthy Lifestyles Coalition, Lee Barta Community Center, and the surrounding community
- Researching best practices in online engagement and network building
- Collaborating with staff and partners to develop and implement virtual programs and content
- Monitoring and utilizing analytic data to refine an online engagement strategy
- Collaborating with staff to design marketing materials and supporting documents for program development
The intern will also support supplemental United Way of Broome County work when necessary. They will be encouraged to meet with various internal staff members to learn more about each staff members’ role in the organization. They will also have the opportunity to participate in various committee meetings and professional development opportunities.
