The UF Small Animal Hospital Emergency & Critical Care Service is AAHA accredited and VECCS Level I certified. Our mission is to provide a caring, compassionate environment for critically ill pets and their families, while providing the most advanced care possible. Operating 24/7/365, the Emergency & Critical Care Service is filled with the highest quality equipment and provides care to over 8,700 patients yearly. A large variety of cases walk through our doors including patients suffering from trauma, toxicity, snakebites, and advanced wounds. Highlights of this service include telemetry monitoring systems, bedside testing services, hemodialysis services, mechanical ventilation systems, in-house blood donation services, a state-of-the-art isolation area, and much more.
The service is seeking technicians who have a strong interest and passion for emergency medicine and want to grow personally and professionally. Technicians assist our clinicians in triaging and providing superb nursing care to our patients, communicating with clients, along with offering instruction and demonstration to veterinary students, interns, residents, and other technicians. Team members have opportunities to participate in a variety of areas of veterinary medicine including triage, anesthesia, radiology, CPR, and nursing care.
