Professional Associations

The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting individuals who work in clinical research. ACRP provides education and training, professional certifications, competency guidelines, career resources, networking opportunities, local chapters, and industry information related to clinical trials and research. For students and those new to the field, its Getting Started in Clinical Research resources introduce the clinical research process, career options, and pathways to finding a first opportunity. A free introductory clinical trials course covers topics such as medical product development, participant protections, and the roles involved in developing, researching, reviewing, and approving medical products.

Who should use this resource:
Students interested in clinical research, clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medicine, nursing, public health, regulatory affairs, research coordination, or other careers involved in developing and evaluating medical products and interventions. It is especially useful for students who want to understand the range of roles within clinical research, build foundational industry knowledge, or begin preparing for careers such as clinical research coordinator or clinical research associate.

Why it’s helpful:
ACRP can help students move from simply being interested in research to understanding clinical research as a career field. Students can explore career pathways, complete introductory training, review clinical research competencies, search hundreds of positions through the ACRP Career Center, and learn about industry standards and certifications they may pursue later in their careers. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students can also apply for discounted student membership, which provides access to additional education, networking, local chapters, online communities, and professional development resources.
