SUNY Kids is a volunteer organization that takes kids from low income areas of Broome County on day trips every Saturday. Most of the children come from foster homes and are appointed to us through the Broome County Department of Social Service. We help provide a fun, safe environment for the children to enjoy as well as to learn. Some activities that we do include: roller blading, apple-picking, Discovery Center, bowling, etc.
Our goal is to provide opportunities to children who may not otherwise be able to afford them, as well as providing positive role models and friendships with these children. We hope that through this mentorship program, Binghamton student volunteers can enhance the emotional stability, social development and self-esteem of the children.
