The primary purpose of Unkai Daiko is to bring the art of traditional Japanese drumming, taiko, to Binghamton students through info sessions, practices, and performances. We aim to educate students on the history of taiko, hold regular practices, and play at several events on and off campus each year.
Our goal is to spread knowledge of the lesser know aspect of Japanese culture known as taiko, traditional Japanese drumming. We wish to hold both small and big performances at various types of events in and around the Binghamton community to spread awareness of taiko. We also wish to give anyone who wants to devote themselves to learning the art of taiko, even if they have no musical experience, the chance the learn.
