Funding Opportunity: Student Organization Partnership Initiative

Overview:

The Fleishman Career Center Student Organization Partnership Initiative (SOPI) is a discretionary co-sponsorship fund that will support student organizations in hosting career and professional development-related events. To receive funding, organizations must:

  • Host a program or initiative with a career or professional development focus
  • Complete a consultation with Fleishman Career Center staff
  • List Fleishman as a co-sponsor 
  • Submit receipts for all purchases made with the funding
  • Provide event recap information for a poster showcase
  • Submit a student organization partnership spotlight
  • Distribute feedback survey to student organization members

Funding: 

  • Up to $500 per event

Organizations can request funding to contribute toward costs of programs that benefit the entire student organization membership such as: 

  • Professional development workshops 
  • Career education workshops 
  • Career weeks
  • Identity-based career programming
  • Case competitions or simulations
  • Grad school exploration or preparation events
  • Alumni and/or employer panels
  • Alumni and or/employer networking events

Benefits for Student Organizations: 

  • Boosts visibility and credibility: Positions the organization as one that supports members’ career growth and attracts new members
  • Provides direct access to Fleishman staff: Groups get tailored advice on planning and career topics through the required consultation
  • Develops student leader skills: Leaders gain experience in planning, budgeting, and partnerships
  • Creates tangible results for resumes and portfolios: Event recaps and spotlights highlight the group’s impact and can be shared with future members or sponsors
  • Engages and prepares members: Quality career programming keeps members active and helps them build relevant skills
  • Showcases the organization’s work on campus: Participation in the poster showcase highlights the group’s efforts to the campus community and supports future collaborations

Restrictions/Disclaimers:

  • Funds cannot be used toward job fairs, conference costs, professional organization membership costs, or individual professional development such as certifications or courses. The Fleishman Professional Development Fund is an alternative option to support these activities
  • Student organizations will only be awarded up to one request per academic year
  • Please note that this is a competitive application process and not all requests will receive funding
  • There will be monetary limits for purchases and you may not receive the full funding amount that you requested
  • Receipts are due within 14 days of the program (or the funding may be revoked)

Applications for spring 2026 are open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all funding has been awarded for the spring semester. Decisions will be sent within 2 weeks of application submission.
