International Student Employment Pathways-Interstride
This is a graph that shows the different ways that international students on F1 visas can seek temporary employment in the United States with a CPT and OPT, and later look for more permanent pathways to residency through different visa options.
Who should use this resource? This resource can be helpful for international students who are considering staying in the United States after their OPT.
Why it’s helpful? The graph shows alternative employment visas besides H1-B that students can look into such as O-1 and EB-1 or EB-2 visas. Students can learn more about these other visa pathways on Interstride’s Resource Hub and on their Non-Immigrant Visa Cheatsheet.
Note that we are not making any legal advice. Students should check with the International Student and Scholar Services or speak with an immigration lawyer regarding these different pathways to employment. Interstride provides many useful webinars (live and on demand) on immigration and working in the US (including CPT, OPT, H1B, and O-1 visas).
