New York Naval Militia Recruitment Incentive and Retention Program
The New York Naval Militia RIRP is a state-specific educational benefit offering tuition assistance to active members of the New York Naval Militia who are concurrently serving in the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard Reserve.
Who Should Use it:
This resource is designed for undergraduate and graduate students currently serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, or Coast Guard Reserve who are enrolled in degree programs in New York State and seeking tuition support.
How to Use it:
- Confirm Dual Membership: Ensure active enlistment in a qualifying military reserve component and formal membership in the New York Naval Militia.
- Review Program Deadlines: Complete and submit DMNA Form 96-1 to your unit commander prior to state-mandated semester deadlines (typically July 11 for Fall and November 20 for Spring).
- Coordinate with Financial Aid: Submit approved RIRP documentation to Binghamton’s Financial Aid and Veteran Services offices to apply awards to your student account.
