Student Organization Spotlight: Binghamton Student Design Agency (BSDA)

Binghamton University is home to over 30 clubs and organizations that are specifically in the industry cluster of arts and communications. One of the most well-known student organizations here is our Binghamton University Design Agency, or BSDA. Last semester, I had the opportunity to learn about this amazing club and the opportunities they provide for our students.

Utilizing our student organization questionnaire, I was able to connect with BSDA’s President, Brian Carmeli, a graphic design major here at Binghamton University. Brian joined BSDA as a member early on in his college career to become a part of a community of students with similar interests. He later ran for a President to take on a leadership role in order to encourage and support other members in their design pursuits. He and his fellow executive board members have made it their main goal to “Cater to the graphic design needs of other Binghamton organizations, including the creation and updating of logos, posters, banners, etc. We also bring together the tight-knit community of graphic designers and artists in the University.”

As a club, they encourage all students to join that have an interest in arts and design, regardless of their major. By being a member of BSDA, not only does one have the opportunity to express themselves creatively with other like minded individuals, but this club provides valuable connections to alumni and professionals in the design world. BSDA participates in Inktober, where each day during the month of October, they highlight their member’s work for the campus community to see. Additionally, they created a 2-credit internship opportunity where a select number of students are selected each semester  to create artwork for other campus organizations.

BSDA is an incredible student organization that allows students with interests in the design industry to build upon their skills while engaging with other artists. If you are interested in joining or would like more information, they suggest connecting with them on instagram or through their email: bsda@binghamtonsa.org.
