Degrees Overseas: How Studying Abroad Impacts Professional Development

Studying abroad is a thrilling journey that not only broadens your horizons but also has a significant influence on your personal and professional development. Last spring, I studied abroad in Florence, where I learned about myself and gained new perspectives. It provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to obtain vital skills, experiences, and views that can help you advance professionally. This blog will look at how studying abroad will help your career, particularly for SOM majors in the Business and Entrepreneurship job cluster!

  1. London School of Economics

Cultural competency is a highly sought-after quality in the professional field in today’s globalized society. Employers respect those who can effectively collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and understand the complexities of international commerce. The London School of Economics (LSE) is a multicultural institution located in downtown London, close to the Royal Courts of Justice, Fleet Street, and the West End. London is extremely diverse and it is frequently recognized as the world’s greatest educational city. London has the most languages spoken in any city on the planet, at over 300. LSE, unlike most Binghamton abroad programs, is a full academic year program with four intensive courses completed throughout the year. Despite being one of the most costly abroad programs available, LSE is one of the most respected abroad possibilities available! You will have access to an array of diversity, as well as clever social science professors and some of the world’s greatest learning tools.

  1. South Korea: Korea University Business School

Living and studying abroad frequently entails being apart from the familiar comforts of home and family. This experience promotes personal development, self-reliance, and independence. Candidates who can work self-sufficiently, adjust to new surroundings, and take initiative are valued by employers. Your capacity to flourish in unusual circumstances and endure in the face of obstacles will distinguish you from your peers. South Korea is a 44-million-person country with a distinct history and culture. Seoul is the capital city, and it is amazing to see how the old and contemporary coexist. Visitors may see centuries-old palaces, city gates, shrines, and gardens in addition to soaring skyscrapers, modern retail and eating areas, athletic events, and bustling traffic.  The KUBS business program is a well-known business school that places a strong focus on intercultural participation and community networking. Students who speak Korean fluently, on the other hand, can enroll in most university courses if the prerequisites are completed. These business courses are in great demand since the business school is so popular! Remember this while applying to KU.

  1. United Kingdom: Lancaster University

Studying abroad allows you to meet a wide range of individuals, including classmates, professors, and locals. Lancaster University is one of the premier universities in England, offering a diverse range of degrees in the arts, sciences, and pre-professional subjects. The area, which is located halfway between London and Edinburgh, provides students with the benefits of campus life and a gorgeous setting, as well as convenient access to tourist locations in the United Kingdom and Europe. In the business sector, networking is a strong tool. Building contacts while studying abroad can lead to career possibilities, partnerships, and collaborations. Students live in university residential halls with other foreign and British students. Similar to the Binghamton system, the residence halls are grouped into residential colleges.  The friendships you make abroad can change your life, and dorm style living at this medium size school can create lifelong bonds that could help your professional future.

  1. United Kingdom: University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh, founded over 400 years ago, is one of the United Kingdom’s oldest and most prestigious institutions. The library is one of the world’s largest academic libraries!  Edinburgh is a popular base for exploring the Scottish highlands, lochs, and Western Isles.
