3 Top Tips for Transfer Students

Welcome to spring semester ’24. Whether you transferred to Binghamton last month or last year, check out these tips to help you get acclimated, adjusted or ahead! Starting new can feel overwhelming, but with a little consistency and communication, you can find your comfort right here in this Transfer Affinity group to continue your Binghamton journey:

#3. Stop in the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development for a walk-in or schedule an appointment to learn about how we can assist you in your career exploration goals. Need your resume reviewed, or learn how to create one?  Not sure what your career goals are? We can help. Looking for jobs (full-time, part-time, summer, on campus), internships, research, study abroad, community engagement? We know right where to send you and how it can positively impact your career journey. How about some assistance on interviewing or networking skills? Yep! That’s us! We are here for you Monday-Friday  10am-4pm UU133.

#2. Make sure you visit your Academic or Department Advisor to confirm your transfer credits and Degree Works. Take advantage of your Professors’ office hours to learn more about their teaching style, class content, expectations and opportunities. Research them on their department bios page and prepare a few questions before you visit.

#1. The Transfer Student Success team provides SO many ways to get and stayed connected. There is something for everyone! Whether you’ve been here 5 weeks or 5 semesters, it’s time to join BATS, chill at a Transfer Café or celebrate at the Transfer Gala and more!
