International Student Resources

The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development offers a variety of job search tools specifically for international students! Join the International Students Affinity Community to explore resources, programs, and opportunities related to the job search in your home country, abroad, or in the United States, location specific job search techniques, and connecting to other international students.

Career counseling appointments specifically for international students are offered by Fleishman’s Career Success Program Specialist, Ozzy Girit Heck, PhD. If you need help with any part of the job search process, make an appointment with Ozzy.

Scheduling a Career Counseling Appointment

  1. First, go to Handshake.
  2. Choose your category: undergraduate or graduate students (including Master’s, PhD, EdD, and PharmD students)
  3. Choose an appointment type (i.e. “Job Search: Full Time Positions”, “Internships”, “Networking”)
  4. Schedule an in-person/virtual appointment with Ozzy or one of our other career consultants!

Interstride

Binghamton University students have free access to Interstride, an online resource to help with the job and internship search. Use Interstride to access employment trends and opportunities, networking with other international students and alumni, visa and immigration information, academic and career insights, and domestic and international job markets.

  1. If you click on the “Network” tab, the Interstride platform allows you to discover and message international student alumni in your field.
  2. The “Learn” tab gives you access to webinars like “Job search strategy for international students” and “Using Interstride to optimize your job and internship search”. There are many more webinars available besides these two!
  3. If you explore the “Resources” tab, you will gain access to a resource library of career readiness and immigration resources!
    • Topics include: Choosing CPT vs OPT, the ultimate guide to work authorization for F-1 international students, STEM designated fields of study for international students, and more
