Finance Director
Seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to partner with the Lexington City Manager and the leadership team on various assignments for a $119 million City government that includes multiple utilities and a municipal golf course.

Attributes of ideal candidate: servant leadership skills and proven record as an innovative leader; demonstrated experience with municipal budgeting and financial strategic planning, including the management of utilities funds; preparation of annual financial statements and audits; strong organizational, presentation, and management skills; ability to communicate effectively with staff, department heads, and elected officials; development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and practices; comprehensive understanding of state and federal laws related to local government; high level of critical thinking skills and emotional intelligence; exceptional written and critical review skills; ability to deal with others in a collaborative and honest manner to foster positive and trusting working relationships; Bilingual a plus.
Successful candidate must have bachelor’s degree with considerable course work in accounting or related field from accredited university. Experience in municipal government and municipal owned utilities is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Salary commensurate with qualifications, plus excellent benefits including acceptance of qualified transferred sick leave from other NC governmental entities and leave accrual rates based upon approved aggregate years of NC government qualified service.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree including major course work in accounting or related field with a concentration in accounting;
- Considerable responsible experience in public finance and budget administration, including considerable experience in local government;
- Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record.

Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
