The Program
Mallinckrodt is offering an 12-week internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Here, you will be able to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a corporate environment. In addition, our internship program is designed to include networking opportunities across the company, professional development workshops, and community service.

Job Description Summary
The EHS Intern will assist Mallinckrodt EHS professionals by conducting industrial hygiene monitoring associated with active pharmaceutical ingredients during various large scale pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Industrial hygiene monitoring results will require preparing written reports of findings and recommendations to reduce risk. Additional duties include participation in safety and/or industrial hygiene program assessments to determine compliance with regulatory and company requirements. Job activities also include special projects focused on Safety or Industrial Hygiene program improvements. Project results may be presented the site leadership team concluding the internship summer program.
Essential Functions
· Assists in monitoring relevant and applicable regulations and accepted best industry practices for the purpose of implementing assigned systems and corrective action.
- Coordinate with manufacturing departments to manage the industrial hygiene sampling schedule.
- Perform department safety equipment inventory, calibration and repair activities.
- Conduct exposure monitoring for chemical and noise hazards as required by regulations, company policy or best industry practices.
- Participate in internal audits and inspections. Review findings and recommend improvements.
- Participate on project teams for plant safety committee, safety policy review teams, and other project related activities.
- Participate in plant and department level Lean, Continuous Improvement and/or other business excellence activities.
- Perform safety/environmental audits of the assigned site as assigned.
- Conduct workplace hazard assessments and collaborate with EHS staff and area owners in suggesting, selecting and implementing preventative and corrective solutions.
- Assist in conducting and managing required EHS analytical testing and record keeping requirements.
- Participate in assigned incident investigations.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Majoring in Environmental Health Science, Occupational Health Science, or closely related Science field is preferred. Equivalent experience in EHS practice is considered.
Skills/Qualifications:
Understanding of EHS procedures; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills (speaking and listening); knowledge of professional EHS philosophies and strategies; technical writing; computer literate; a desire to develop others through coaching and facilitation.
Competencies:
Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, analytical skills as well as have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
