The Randolph Community Middle School English teacher will facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implement district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
The ideal candidate will:
-Collaborate with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
-Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
-Promote equity and appreciation of diversity
-Maintain classroom management and adhere to PBIS expectations
-Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement
-Plan and deliver effective instruction to students in the middle school grades
-Execute the subject matter knowledge requirements specific for English Teachers, including but not limited to:
• Correct usage of the English language
• Deep understanding of sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and literature
• Creative composition such as prose, poetry, short stories, narratives
• Technical writing skills, including news articles, reports, journals, and essay.
• Development of the student’s oral and written communication skills, including critical thinking, oral and written comprehension, and problem solving skills.
Terms: 182 days consistent with the Randolph Education Association (REA) collective bargaining agreement
Salary: Consistent with the REA salary schedule.
-Massachusetts Teacher License in English, 5-8 with SEI Endorsement
-Experience working with middle school age students in a diverse, multi-cultural academic setting
