William is the Chair and Professor of Music at Immaculata University as well as a professional concert pianist and an official Steinway Artist. On top of his academic duties with the university, William spends three to four hours a day to remain in top form for when he performs around the world.

>> My name is William Carr [phonetic], and I am chair and Prof. of music at Immaculata University. I am also a Steinway artist. So I have a performing career with Steinway and I'm on their international roster of Steinway performing artists. My days are usually filled with lots of mixture of activities because in addition to being an administrator which is what a chair is basically doing in terms of the program, you know you have the degree programs that we have. We have four undergraduate degrees and we have a graduate degree in music. So you know there's lots of personnel issues and student issues that you have to attend to in that role. In addition I have teaching responsibilities. And I'm always practicing at least three or four hours a day. So my days are actually long days and they're usually filled with lots of activities, but different types of activities which are interesting. You are representing the Steinway name certainly and that's a name that is linked with excellence. And so consequently I think you know the concerts that you do you're going to be playing Steinway products usually a Steinway grand piano. Immaculata University became and all Steinway school in 2012 which is a wonderful recognition. Schools such as Curtis Institute, Juilliard School, are part of the Steinway school recognition. And as far as my own relationship with Steinway, yes, I do concerts and I am you know in many ways-- I'm representing the Steinway piano company when I do my performances. So that's an important recognition also. [ Silence ]
