Spring International Student Career Success Series: Feb. 14-18, 2022

Every semester the Fleishman Center works with ISSS, Watson Career and Alumni Connections, and the School of Management Career Services to offer career-related programs specifically for international students. Applying for OPT Authorization & Managing the US Job Search
Monday, Feb. 14 at Noon in UU-133a and live on Zoom
Learn about the process of applying for OPT authorization to work in the US. An International Student Advisor will explain the ins and outs of that process. We will also cover tips on how to search for job opportunities in the US and manage that process, as well as helpful resources you can use with a career consultant from the Fleishman Center. Interviews: Answering the Most Common Questions
Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Noon in UU-133a and live on Zoom
Interviews can be not intimidating and tricky to master. Come learn how to answer the 5 most commonly asked questions as well as tips for answering behavioral questions. Then, you will have the change to practice your responses with your fellow participants. Join in-person in UU-133a or register to join virtually via zoom. 

Building Connections and Making the Most of the job & Internship Fair
Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Noon in UU-133a and live on Zoom 
This session will review the skills you must demonstrate to employers at virtual events as well as the expectations of those employers. This workshop will build your confidence, create a positive first impression, help you bond with recruiters, employers, and most of all, make them remember you. We will review and practice strategies that can be used to enhance your networking at the Job and Internship Fair, including the 30-second pitch. Gaining Experience Outside of Internships
Thursday, Feb. 17 at Noon in UU-133a and live on Zoom
While internships are an excellent way of gaining practical experience, there are other ways to do so. This session will cover the variety of methods to look for an gain practical experience in your field of choice, or one that will lead to transferable skills. How to Get your CPT ASAP
Friday, Feb.  18 at Noon in UU-133a and live on Zoom
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an off-campus employment authorization for international students in F-1 status. It allows students to do an internship, or have other temporary employment, for experience that is directly related to their program of study. Come to this workshop to learn the regulations governing CPT and when it can be used. You will also learn what you need to do to submit a successful application! This workshop will be led by an advisor from International Student and Scholar Services. Join in-person in UU-133a or register to join virtually via zoom.
