The Federal Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)

The Federal Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) portal connects federal and select private-sector employers nationwide with nationwide college students, graduate students, and recent graduates with disabilities for paid summer internships and permanent full-time roles. Co-managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and Department of Defense, the platform serves as a primary talent database for federal agency recruitment.

Who Should Use it:

This resource is designed for current undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates with disabilities across all academic majors who are eligible for the federal Schedule A hiring authority. Whether you are seeking a summer internship to gain agency experience, looking for a post-graduation career path in public service, or wanting to practice your interviewing skills, the WRP offers a direct pipeline into federal employment.

How to Use it:
  • Register During Fall Recruitment: Create a candidate profile on WRP.gov during the annual registration window (typically open from late August through October).
  • Upload Required Documents: Complete your candidate profile by uploading an updated resume, academic transcripts, and official proof of Schedule A disability eligibility.
  • Participate in Elective Interviews: Connect with a volunteer federal recruiter for an elective informational interview to gain career advice and refine your application materials.
  • Connect with Direct Hiring Managers: Once approved, your application is included in a national database accessible to hiring officials across federal agencies who reach out directly regarding job and internship openings.
Why it’s Helpful:

Navigating competitive civil service job listings can feel overwhelming, but the WRP streamlines federal job hunting by placing eligible candidates directly into a searchable database used exclusively by agency recruiters. Participating in the WRP gives candidates with disabilities a distinct hiring advantage, opens doors to non-competitive hiring under Schedule A, and provides personalized mentorship from active federal employees.
